What is the Pupil Development Grant?
-
The Pupil Development Grant (PDG) in Wales is a government initiative aimed at supporting disadvantaged learners, particularly those eligible for free school meals (FSM), adopted children, and children in care.
- 1. Purpose: The PDG aims to help close the attainment gap between these learners and their peers by providing additional funding to schools.
- 2. Usage: Schools can use PDG funding to address barriers to learning, such as improving literacy and numeracy skills, enhancing well-being, and increasing engagement in learning.
- 3. Eligibility: The grant is intended for children aged 5 to 15 from low-income households or care-experienced children.
- 4. Implementation: Schools must demonstrate how the grant has improved outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and ensure it is spent in a way that directly benefits these learners.
