Pupil Councils
We have a great range of pupil voice groups our pupils can engage in.

These groups allow our pupils to have an active voice in what they learn and how they learn it.
Below are the groups we currently have, who is involved, when they meet and the members of staff who works with them.
Mini SLT: These are pupil representatives from all classes from Year 1- 6. They attend fortnightly meetings on a Wednesday afternoon for an hour. They meet with Mrs Pinches our Year 2 teacher. They share the ideas and the views of their peers. Each member has a class Mini SLT notebook where they record anything that needs to be brought up from their class. They are the voice for their friends and class and record meeting notes so they can report back to class. All teachers allow Mini SLT to report back to classes to ensure communication and updates are clear.
Mini SLT has influenced a lot of changes in the school, including extracurricular activities, school dinners and interviewed staff who have wished to work in our school.
Mrs Pinches emails the minutes to all staff after the meeting has commenced.
Meet our Mini SLT and find out each child's interests by viewing our MINI SLT display in the FP corridor.
School Rangers: Our School Rangers have two very important roles. They ensure the school is as HEALTHY as it can be. They lead assemblies on a healthy lifestyle and ways you can look after yourself. They help with healthy focussed days in school and keep a close eye on ensuring snacks and lunches are as healthy as they can be.
They also have the huge task of making sure everyone is taking CARE OF OUR SCHOOL. They look after the school grounds, conducting litter picks and tidying any areas which are beginning to look run down. They also work with PRIIDE on a weekly basis, who are a local conservation group looking after Ogmore Vale and the surrounding areas.
Our School Rangers are very passionate about doing the best for the school and the surrounding environment. This even includes using fruit waste from snacks to create a compost area and taking care of our school garden to ensure the habitats there are well looked after. These pupils meet on a Thursday and are supported by Miss Owen and Miss Stevens.
Criw Cymraeg: Our Criw Cymraeg are a passionate group of pupils who help to ensure the Welsh Language is always high profile within the school.
They have recently supported the school in winning the Bronze Welsh Award. They also ensure they meet on a Friday to decide and share the 'Phrase of the week' which goes in our school newsletter so families can do this at home.
Mrs Mallinson and Mrs Hobbs support the pupils in their work. The group organise 'Shw Mae Day' and also lead both FP and KS2 weekly Welsh assemblies.
Digital Leads: Our digital leads work closely with Mrs Freeman to ensure they are educating everyone about the importance of being safe online. They do this on a regular basis through assemblies and sections on the school newsletter.
These pupils have a real interest in technologies and support SLT in decisions on purchasing new technologies for the school. They control and manage the interactive whiteboards in all assemblies and also control the music during singing sessions.
